langkawi

Langkawi, the jewel of kedah, that is what they called. i really had no idea about this place previously and all i heard is about the super cheap alcohol (this is really the first thing i heard from everyone about this place), good taste of seafood and beautiful views.

DAY ONE

we reached on 30th night at Langkawi International Aiport. we took flight from kl to langkawi coz it was cheap. about 100rm for two-ways with no luggage of course :) after touch down, i start realizing that there is more foreigner than local. i feel like im out of the country :D i stayed at Adina Drive In Motel that located just in front pantai cenang. Pantai Cenang is one of the famous beach where there are lot of shops, foods and bars. really a good location to stay especially i suddenly feel hungry in the mid of night :)

after check-in, ricky brought us to a famous seafood nearby. Orkid Ria Seafood Restaurant. he is our planner our gps our tour agency :D he basically did every single research and plan for us including what time we should wake up in the morning. let's forget about diet. because the food taste is really good. afterwards, we went rent bicycle ! only rm 20 per day. let's called this as burning fat and recalled childhood moments. is good to rent bike for a day coz you can travel around nearby your place while enjoying the air :) then we went to nearest market to check the beverage prices and it shocked me. a can of calsberg just cost you rm 2.80 /(>.<)\ we started to buy different drinks and try each of it. good chance haha xD

DAY TWO

remember, when you are having holiday, every second is count and you dont even want to skip one meal. that morning  was a hardcore one. coz i had 3 meals within 3 hours. first, i started my day with having breakfast at Red Tomato Restaurant & Lounge. its just nearby so we go by bicycle  ^_^ nice environment, good food and good service as well. i ordered something that i never try and thankfully it taste good. then we went to La Chocolatine Patisserie Salon de The Bistro to try their cakes. right after that, we had our lunch. we stop at Rafii's which located at exactly on pantai cenang. foursquare really help us to see what food is recommended by people :) [diet, byebye ㅠ.ㅠ] 

is nice that ricky arranged the tour for us in Langkawi. he arranged for island hoping and mangrove tour. on thes second day we went to island hopping at Kuala Kedah Jetty which cost rm50. there is a transport who came and pick us from the hotel. then, by jetty, they dropped us to an island to play water, then do eagle feeding and last but not least visit the. it takes about 3hours to for the whole trip. it was so tiring and we felt so hungry. right after, we went to eat pizza at Artisan Pizza which also has good rating online and its true. it fresh from the oven. thankfully is nearby. after, our rental car arrived and we went to Kuah area to eat seafood. we rent a car so it will be easier to travel around :) we travelled 30mins from pantai cenang just to eat that famous seafood named Wonderland Food Store (Chinese Muslim Restaurant). among all the seafood restaurants i tried, this is the most tasty and cheapest. we ate like monster but we pay unexpectedly cheap! none of us guessing the price right. i will come again if i have the chance. 

we went back to our motel to park our car then walked to pantai cenang beach for the year end time ! we bought beers and sit by the beach. i found lot of awesome things happen here. one, i watched people light up their lantern and makes the sky is full with lanterns. Is so beautiful. the next awesome thing is the free buffet on beach side for everyone who realize that its free. free satay, free fried rice, free kwetiau and free carlsberg. awesome right !! when the clock show 00:00, firework started ahoot up to the sky which just few meter in front of me is. after that fireworks, we went inside a bar to enjoy the nights and dance floor is also available there. cool nights! 

DAY THREE

this time, we went for Tg Rhu Mangrove Tour. it cost rm 130 including the transport from hotel, jetty, lunch, and tour guide. we need to go by 9am although the night before is quite tiring. it took 6 hours to finish this trip. the mangrove tour was really cool! first, they brought us for fish feeding near the reef, and then showed us various types of marine fish and feed them, went to see the mangrove tree, went to see monkey swimming in the sea, feed the eagle, went to the bat cave, and finally we had lunch at a floating restaurant in the middle of the sea. all these trips are located in nature Kilim Geoforest Park. so much activities done within that 6 hours. this is an experience that should never be forgotten. for people who like to see the beauty of nature, this is the right place! after resting, we are going to Kuah area again for seafood (again). this time we ate at Teo Seafood Restaurant. Kuah area is quite small, so the places to get food is close to each other.

DAY FOUR

come to the last day in Langkawi. we woke up quite early (again) and went to Breakfast bar. we tried the american breakfast there. the service pretty quick and the environment will enhance ur food. with our rented car, we continued our day to Langkawi Oriental Village. at that place, you can find small lake, souvenir shops, restaurant, hotel and most importantly the Langkawi Cable Car :) this is the most famous things to do in langkawi. this is the highest cable car that i ever experience. is quite scary but it really has a good view coz the cable car brings us to 700m above sea level. i suggest you to go there on weekdays because it is really crowded. took at least an hour to get in the cable car. when we reached on top, i really can see the beautiful landscape of both combination between mountain and sea. the wind is really strong and anything can fly off easily :P

well, we drove to Kuah area again at the time we felt super hungry. fyi, lot restaurants in langkawi close after 2pm and they will only operate again at 6pm. so it was 3pm and lot restaurants were close. we need to stop our car and start browsing to look for good food. four of us are really in emotional state coz of the hungry feeling. thank to Langkawi Hainanese Cafe coz they closed at 4pm :D

Eagle Square is our last destination. people say, if you haven't come here, your langkawi trip is not complete. so we sacrificed our skin by walking under the hot hot sun just to take pict with the eagle statue. virginia din want to go out from car coz she can't bare with the sun. she was happy to wait us in the car haha. and so that was the end of our langkawi trip ! drove to airport, return the car, went inside the plane and flew back to KL. 

Langkawi is really worth place to spend my money bcoz of the good scenery, good food, good beach and good alcohol :D thanks for the weather cause there is no rain for the four days we were there.


here is some useful tips:
1 do research of good places and food through trip advisor and foursquare :) is a must

2 when you reach the destination, check in to foursquare and check the tips by peopl
3 just bring hand carry luggage coz you dont want waste your time waiting and carrying ur luggages
4 it is very hot. im telling u, it is very HOT. use sunblock all the time. SPF 80 above is recommended :)
